White Tongue

A white tongue occurs when small bumps called papillae to inflame or swell. It's often a result of substances getting stuck between papillae, so it can normally be fixed with good oral hygiene practices. Some diseases can inflame papillae, so contact your healthcare provider if you have recurring or unmanageable white coloration on the tongue.
